The Curse of the Monkey...Bread

We have been camping ALL Weekend.  We left Friday after work, and got home at lunch-time today.

We went with some good friends and their baby and their BIG dog, and they had some Friends from up north come too.  They have 4 kids so we were quite the group.

On Saturday Morning, after Breakfast, We Took the kids on a walk..  They were so cute.

While we were walking we saw some cool Mushrooms, and some weird ones.  One of them we stepped on and it emitted copious amounts of green dust.  We rushed the children away fairly quickly.

But the adults all decided to see what happened if we breathed in the dust.  There were whirling lights and little space people that carried us away on a rainbow cloud!   (That was for Nick, we did nothing of the sort, but because I didn't have a picture, apparently I needed to liven it up a bit.)

But here is an Honestly Adorable face!!
I thought for sure, that Jacks was going to Biff it on this "Walk"  because he wouldn't walk, and watching his little legs blur on the downhills was fairly disconcerting.
Here is Coop, kind of looks like he was singing, but alas, probably only yelling after the dog.
He dragged the stick for most of the walk.  Most of the kids did.
Here is Jacks, Walking with Dad, (so cute) and his Stick, that Nick carved for him.
And here is Jacks when the walk got too long for his tiny little legs
We walked to the Santa Clara River Walk, and the adults sat while the kids played: ie: Climbed around and threw things in the water.
 Love. love, love this picture!
Later that afternoon, the lady rangers and their horses stopped by.
I let Coop go and pet the horses...then I remembered he is allergic, just like me.  Luckily I packed the bendryl!  I felt so bad for him! To bad he loves animals.
Later that afternoon, I had to go back to town for a Former students' Wedding Reception.  I took Jacks with me and we stopped at the grocery store to get more rolls for Sunday mornings' Dutch Oven MONKEY BREAD.

Sunday morning I couldn't find the sugar for the MONKEY BREAD.  AHH, so we ate Cold cereal and Yogurt (Stupid Monkey Bread).

Here is Coop hanging out with Hawkeye.  This trip was great for Coopers confidence around dogs.  He had a run-in with a very excited  puppy when he was 2, and has been Super Chicken since, but luckily Hawkeye is super Chill!
Here is dad B and his delicious baby B.  I was sicky all weekend so I did not get nearly enough sweet baby cuddles, but it was so neat to watch dad B and mom E lovin on their little boy!  They are such a great family, and we are so sad because they found out on Wednesday that B got transferred, and they are moving. :(
After our rather pathetic Breakfast (Stupid Monkey Bread), we drove back home to shower and go to church.  My Primary kids are supposed to be singing in church next week.
After church we headed back up the mountain.

It wouldn't be a true Outdoors Experience without an I-Pad!
Then i discovered that 2 of my 5 Pop-cans of biscuits had prematurely popped (Stupid Monkey Bread).  so there would not be enough for everyone in the morning, so Nick volunteered to go check the tiny country store for some more (Stupid Monkey Bread).

While he was gone we roasted marshmellows.  Check out the Perfection  that Tyson achieved.  His roasting stick... a broken off golf club (Genius)  Those huge new marshmellows kind of flop on the traditional roasters.
Cooper, and all the kids, of course loved roasting over the fire.
Next genius idea.. E.L.Fudge cookies for smores.  Coop was a HUGE fan.

Hawkeye even got in on the action and grabbed a dropped marshmellow.
This little doll is an adorable/crazy angel who is being adopted by her family.  they are so incredibly generous to have opened their home and hearts to her and I know that they are making a huge difference in her life.
At around 8 o'clock I started to worry, because Nick and Jacks weren't back yet.  At about 9 everyone else started to worry too! (Stupid Monkey Bread).  So Texting (cause we had data, but couldn't call) we found out that Jacks had puked all over the back of the car and Nick was on the way home to clean him up.  (Stupid Monkey Bread).  We decided they should sleep at home and come up in the morning, so Coop and I stayed in the tent without them.

Nick and Jacks arrived at 7:30 this morning and we finally made the Stupid Monkey Bread.  Then packed up and said Good-bye.  It was an awesome weekend!!
